Based on ATO-SMSF Statistical reports - Dec 2013, There is more than 522000 SMSFs with more than 995000 members acted either as trustees or directors of Corporate trustees of SMSFs as 11% of Australian resident population ABS estimated figures on 10-03-2014 with total Australian and overseas asset of more than $ 543 bilions, an increase of 52% number of SMSFs, 31% number of members and 41% value in assets from Jun 2009.
